Sarasota County Tax Collector

A new Florida law will help improve communication between a person with autism spectrum disorder and law enforcement officers during a motor vehicle stop. The law for the “blue envelope program” went into effect on July 1, 2026, and it requires the Dept. of Highway Safety & Motor Vehicles to develop and make available to individuals with ASD a blue envelope by Jan. 1, 2027. According to an analysis of the bill, the blue envelope may contain specified identification documents for the individual that they would give to a law enforcement officer during a traffic stop. If you are interested in receiving a blue envelope, please check back with our office in early January 2027.

This fall, our office will implement Grant Street Group's tax collection system which has an online application called EscrowExpress® that will be used for the processing of 2026 property tax escrow / bulk payments. 

Beginning September 1, 2026, EscrowExpress is the only manner in which the Sarasota County Tax Collector will accept property tax escrow / bulk payments. To read more about how this change will impact your business with our office, please review this official memo.

Appointments or walk-in service will be provided to Sarasota County residents, businesses, seasonal residents, and those establishing residency only. This change will enable us to more efficiently serve the residents of Sarasota County. If you live outside of Sarasota County, please visit your Tax Collector.

Appointments are recommended for all services and can be scheduled online. Appointments are required for the Road or Written Test, Concealed Weapon License, and any service in the North Port Office.
