May 31st Deadline to Property Taxes

If your 2024 property tax bill is unpaid, please read for important deadlines. The annual Sarasota County Tax Certificate Sale for unpaid real estate accounts will be held June 2nd and the amount due will increase significantly on that date. Unpaid tangible personal property accounts will have a warrant issued. In order to avoid additional charges, tax payments must be RECEIVED in our office no later than Sat., May 31st.

Tax Certificate Sale June 2nd
The annual Sarasota County Tax Certificate Sale will be held online June 2nd. If you are interested in investing, you can register now or preview a items for sale. Only preregistered bidders may participate in this sale and registration must be completed by Tue., May 27th at 4:00 pm ET. You can also download a list of delinquent accounts from the "Delinquent List" section. Bidding begins at 18% per year, and each tax certificate is sold to the investor bidding the LOWEST annual interest rate. It is important to know that a tax certificate is a tax lien; there are no properties available for purchase at this sale. Click here to more information.

REAL ID License or ID Card

Starting May 7, 2025, Florida residents planning to use their driver's license or ID Card to board a federally regulated domestic flight must have a REAL ID compliant card with a gold star. More information at www.flhsmv.gov/driver-licenses-id-cards/real-id/. If you do not already have a gold star, or if you have one but your information has changed, visit www.flhsmv.gov/driver-licenses-id-cards/what-to-bring to learn what you need to bring to update your card. When you have all your documents, schedule your appointment online.

Appointments are recommended for all services and can be scheduled online. Appointments are required for the Road or Written Test, Concealed Weapon License, and any service in the North Port Office. (If you live outside of Sarasota County, please visit your local Tax Collector or contact Info@SarasotaTaxCollector.gov for residency requirement exceptions.)
